YOUR FIRST JUMP!
Even the most experienced BASE jumpers are gripped once their toes meet the cave. s edge for the first time. Your first jump will be like a nightmare that you willingly enter. Your mind will tell you no way! You will swear it can. t be done. The walls appear straight down with no room to fly and you can. t see the bottom, yet you still jump.

Most freefalls last between 5-7 seconds; and there is no greater feeling than the one you scream with excitement and yell with joy.

And with that first jump over, you can't wait to get pulled back up and do it again. But this time from a different ledge or maybe a tree? Experienced jumpers will build confidence quickly and start finding new ways to enjoy the cave by performing inverted maneuvers. Lesser-experienced jumpers will be content with flat and stable exits.

Delays of 4 to 7 seconds are great. An eight-second delay will give you a canopy ride of only 10 seconds and is pushing the safety margins.

Mesh sliders and large canopies work well in the cave.


CLIMBING EXPERIENCE
Due to the demanding environment, climbing experience is strongly recommended but not mandatory. Special climbing techniques necessary for a safe rappel and extraction will be taught during a one day training seminar prior to entering.

BASE EXPERIENCE BASE
experience is mandatory. A minimum of 35 BASE jumps and a strong accuracy background is highly recommended. The landing area is small and landing out holds the potential for serious injury.


PERSONAL EQUIPMENT
It is necessary for each person to bring a minimum of the following personal equipment:
Climbing / rappelling harness & rappelling gloves.
2 "LARGE" pear shaped locking carabiners.
2 regular size, locking carabiners.
Personal BASE equipment including helmet & pads.

GROUP RESPONSIBILITY
Due to the large amount of equipment and group involvement necessary to successfully carry out such an expedition, it is essential that each person possess team skills in order to meet the challenges of this demanding environment. Such skills include, but are not limited to, the following:
Belaying fellow jumpers in and out of the cave.
Winch & rope spool recovery operations.
Hauling equipment to and from site.
Personal and group equipment management.
Positive attitude and a team spirit.

AVAILABLE SLOTS
Only a limited number of slots are available. The fourteen member expedition can only accommodate ten new jumpers for this once in a lifetime adventure. The remaining slots are taken by team leaders and hired climbing and rigging experts. Slots are awarded base on deposits. First in first on.

COST
$2,900 buys you the wildest BASE adventure available anywhere. Included are all your expenses once you land at our final destination in Mexico. This includes transportation, hotel, food, alcohol, training, rescue equipment, rappelling and extraction equipment and best of all, a motorized wench recovery system. No two hour rope climb!

DEPOSIT
A $1,000 deposit will secure your slot on the expedition provided you meet the basic requirements. The final balance of $1,900 will be due 60 days prior to departure.

The first expedition of 2003 is scheduled to take place between February 13 and February 22. The second expedition of 2003 will take place between February 21 and March 1..

ACCOMMODATION
Once in Mexico, all of your accommodations are covered by the expedition starting the day of introductions and training. Expect basic third world hotels and accommodations.
